When Peyman came to us with the project, we knew it was going to be hilarious because of all the culturally responsive scripts that the agency came up with. The first thing on the board was the 3D character design. The most fun was combining a realistic and toon style, while designing the character. Next step was to find the sweet spot between a dramatic yet cute movement for our fluffy little guy's turning animation. After finishing all the 3D stages, it was time to create 2D adaptations. We designed 2D props for each scenario and matched their animations with the character's 3D animation. Using this technique saved us a lot of time and effort. So far, we ended up making 26 separate ads about this gopher and his dramatic love for nutzz.
